In its 2014 paper, Leading from the Front of the Classroom: A Roadmap to Teacher Leadership that Works, The Aspen Institute deftly divides the elements essential for teacher leadership into form – roles supported to ensure they can actually be fulfilled – and function – initiatives tailored to meet specific and important goals. When form and function are aligned, teacher leadership effects positive change. When they are not – or in the absence of both – teacher leadership founders.
