Snowy Day

The Snowy Day follows a young boy named Peter on a snow-white (with a smidgen of color) exploration after he wakes to find his city covered in snow. Like Peter, students will awaken their senses and play in the snow to experience its features. Students will listen to wintry sounds and use their bodies to demonstrate understanding of newly learned snowy vocabulary such as crunching, dragging, sliding, and packing. After creating a wintery scene, students will place themselves in the art, using their imaginations to transport them into their own snowy scenes. Like Peter, they will explore how animals leave tracks in the snow and think critically about what information those tracks provide.
