Eve Proffitt brings both K-12 and higher education experience to the Board. Dr. Proffitt began her career as a teacher in Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington, rising to positions as principal, director of special education, director of instructional support and finally associate superintendent for instruction. Additionally, she served as director of student achievement and special education for the Kentucky School Boards Association before accepting a faculty position with Georgetown College, becoming the Associate Dean of Graduate Education and finally Dean of Education. Dr. Proffitt currently serves as assistant professor in the College of Education, Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Kentucky, and also directs the P20 Innovation Lab.
She has published extensively both evaluation and audit reports, as well as journal articles. Dr. Proffitt has also won a number of awards, including the Phi Delta Kappa Educational Foundation Platinum Contributor, Outstanding Educator in America, Outstanding Educator in Kentucky, and the Kentucky Outstanding Leadership Award, to name a few. She is also involved in a number of professional organizations and serve as a board member for the Educational Foundation of Phi Delta Kappa International.
Dr. Proffitt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a Master of Arts degree in special education, both from Eastern Kentucky University. She earned Educational Specialist certification in special education from the University of Kentucky, and holds a Doctor of Education in educational administration, also from the University of Kentucky.
