John Heyburn brings to the board long and distinguished experience as a leader in education and the community. An attorney in Louisville, Kentucky, specializing in real estate law and related practice for more than 30 years, he served as an elected member of the Jefferson County Board of Education for nine years, and as its chairman. Mr. Heyburn has also served on the Federal Relations Network of the National School Boards Association, and as a member of the Jefferson County (Kentucky) Kammerer Middle School Site Based Decision Making Council. He has helped screen applications for the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program, and tutored young students in Jefferson County elementary schools.
Mr. Heyburn teaches School Law in the Graduate School of Education, Principal Training Program at Bellarmine University, and Business Law at Jefferson Community and Technical College. He also lectures regularly on real estate law to other practicing attorneys, and to paralegals, Realtors and community groups.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in general science from Hiram College in Ohio, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Louisville School of Law.
Mr. Heyburn and his wife are the parents of three grown children.
