Middle Grades Research Demonstration Project
From 2000 to 2004, CTL staff were involved in the implementation of the Middle Grades Research Demonstration Project, a national research initiative to re-design the Different Ways of Knowing (DWoK) interdisciplinary instructional model for middle grades implementation. The new model was designed to link curriculum, instruction and assessment in a standards-based environment, keeping in mind the individual learning needs of each child.
Different Ways of Knowing (DWoK)
From 1994 to 1998, CTL was a satellite office of the Los Angeles-based Galef Institute, the creators of the interdisciplinary comprehensive school reform model, Different Ways of Knowing (DWoK). During this time, CTL and the Institute worked closely to implement DWoK, one of the most successful comprehensive reform models in the nation, in hundreds of elementary and middle schools in Kentucky and other states.
